Import Contacts from CSV or Excel
Upload your customer list to DeelFlows so you can start sending WhatsApp messages.
What it is
Importing Contacts lets you upload a file with phone numbers and user properties. DeelFlows will create or update Contact records in your Workspace.
You can import from CSV or Excel files. Each row is one Contact. Columns can include phone number, name, email, and any custom user properties you want to track.
Phone numbers must be in E.164 format. That means country code, area code, and number with no spaces or special characters. Example: +14155552671.
When to use it
- You have an existing customer list and want to migrate it to DeelFlows
- You exported Contacts from another tool and need to import them
- You want to bulk update user properties for many Contacts at once
- You collected phone numbers offline and need to add them to your Workspace
- You're syncing Contacts from a CRM or database that doesn't have a direct integration
Step by step
1. Prepare your file
Create a CSV or Excel file with one Contact per row. The first row should be column headers.
Include a column called phone with phone numbers in E.164 format (e.g. +14155552671).
You can add columns like name, email, country, and any custom user properties.
Save your file and make sure there are no duplicate phone numbers.
2. Go to the import page
In DeelFlows, go to Contacts → Import. You'll see an upload area.
Click Choose File and select your CSV or Excel file.
DeelFlows will scan the file and show you a preview of the data.
3. Map columns to fields
DeelFlows will try to auto-match your columns to Contact fields. Check that phone, name, and email are mapped correctly.
If you have custom columns, map them to existing user properties or create new ones.
Any columns you don't map will be ignored.
4. Set opt-in status
Choose the default opt-in status for imported Contacts. If these are existing customers who agreed to receive messages, select Opted In.
If you're not sure, select Not Opted In. You'll need to send them an opt-in message before you can include them in Marketing Broadcasts.
DeelFlows will respect this setting for all Contacts in the file unless the file includes an opt_in column with specific values.
5. Review and import
Check the summary. DeelFlows will show you how many Contacts will be created, updated, or skipped.
Click Start Import. Large files may take a few minutes to process.
You'll get an email when the import finishes. Go to Contacts to see your imported list.
FAQ & gotchas
What happens if a phone number is already in my Workspace?
DeelFlows will update the existing Contact with any new data from your file. It won't create a duplicate. If the import file is missing a field that already exists on the Contact, the existing value stays.
Why are some rows being skipped?
DeelFlows skips rows with invalid phone numbers, missing phone numbers, or phone numbers that are clearly wrong (like 123456789). Check the error report after import to see which rows failed and why.
Can I import more than 10,000 Contacts at once?
Yes, but large imports take longer. If you have more than 100,000 Contacts, consider splitting the file into smaller batches. This makes it easier to catch errors and monitor progress.
How do I format phone numbers correctly?
Use E.164 format: +[country code][area code][number]. No spaces, dashes, or parentheses. Examples: +14155552671 (US), +442071838750 (UK), +971501234567 (UAE). If your file uses a different format, clean it up in Excel before importing.
